Workin It

October 30th, 2004 · No Comments

Auditioned for a comedy event at Ripple Bar in Brooklyn, organized by Elon James White, a friendly comedian I met a little while back at Boudoir Bar . On the unfortunate side, I got there a little late, so I went late, which meant I had a smallish audience. On the fortunate side, since I had to wait a while for my turn, I saw a bunch of acts. I thought four acts were really tight. One, this fat guy from Jersey, crude as hell. Another this hot black middle class park slopey type woman with calm, cold, hilarious anger. Then their was the woman who is married to a jazz musician who hates jazz. And then this dude Blaine slew people with his friendly comic jabs to the jugular. After Blaine’s set I stepped out to get a drink and this octagenarian aspiring comic in the back congratulates me on my performance. I had not yet performed. I was wearing a bright red shirt. Blaine was wearing a grey sweatshirt. Hey, I’ll take the complement, even if it wasn’t for me.
