Will Sketch for Cash

The above pic is a detail from a quick sketch I did to secure a freelance gig. I'm going to be drawing stuff as part of some corporate training shindig in Jersey. Sounds like lots of fun, and the pay is good, which is nice, 'cause Jonny needs a new pair of shoes (and a new computer, and dental care, and a new video camera, and a couple of plane tickets, and some savings, and, and, and.....).

Boxed-In
In case you didn't know, I am bi-metropolitan, shuttling back and forth between New York and D.C. I'm currently treading water in a sea of boxes as we move our D.C. estate from one D.C. suburb to another. I'll be back in NYC Wednesday, with new videos and a slew of performances with my sweeet delicious posse, the Creamsicles. Til then, keep rizzeal.

Lately Schlomo Rabinowitz, Human Dog, Raymond, and a bunch of other vlog makers have been contemplating the importance of content. Here's my take: Content is king, and Jonny is emperor.

Reopen the Library!

Watch Size: 5 megs. Duration: 1:06 Format: Quicktime
The Columbus Branch Library in Hell's Kitchen has been closed for more than a year for renovation. Work is going at crawl to get this branch, which serves a mostly low income community, back up and running. I hope our City Council Representative, Christine Quinn, our Mayor, Mike Bloomberg, and whoever runs the New York Public Library System can look into this and give this project the push it needs to get this library open ASAP.

Guanajuato Lowdown
Having a hard time uploading video from this Mexican town where my Mom dwells, so I'll just ooze out a little text. Been having a great time. Guanajuato is a sweet little city, home to a university and pretty views. It's all set in a narrow valley with winding alleys going up the sides. So far we went rowing on the reservoir with a bunch of really loud ducks, celebrated my Mom's birthday with some apple strudel, and toured our friend Kent Wood's new Guanjuato hacienda. It's easy to just chill out and do very little here. And that's the way we like it. I'll get some vids up in a couple of days when I get back to the States. Meanwhile, hasta la victoria siempre.
Love,
Jonny

I'm in Mexico
So, I'm in Mexico with my wife visiting my Mom who lives in beautiful Guanajuato, Mexico. Aside from the fun of hanging w/Mom, and my sweetie, my friend and sometimes collaborator, poet Kent Wood, is here. We went out last night and painted the town tequila yellow.

Argggghhhhh
OK, I am not a pirate, but I'm ready to walk the plank after last night's MNN audio nightmare. We're using a new studio over at Manhattan Neighborhood network for our TV show, "Off, Off, Off, Vegas," and the audio is all messed up there. We are going to get on their case about it and make sure they improve the setup there.
Meanwhile, I'm sojourning down to Guanajuato, Mexico, to celebrate my Mom's birthday. I will have internet access and my computer, so I'll be posting from down there. Should be muy divertidio. Will connect with my friend, poet, Kent Wood, who is building a house down there.
OK, gotta go pack. I'll keep ya posted.

People Who Rock#2: Jay Dedman
After the Chris Hampton entry last week, I decided to make this a semi-regular feature. Person Who Rocks #2 is Jay Dedman. Jay is a fanatic with a sense of humor. Jay is an artist, and activist, and a teacher. Jay gets the ball rolling and keeps it rolling. Jay is hard core. So who the heck is this guy? By day, Jay works at Manhattan Neighborhood Network teaching people how to make public access television programming. By night and weekend, he catalyzes the videoblogging revolution. He is one of the founders of the Yahoo Videoblogging Group, one of the organizers of Vloggercon 2005, and the creator of the videoblog momentshowing.net. In his spare time(!) he helps develop FireAnt videoblog subscription software. Jay spent the last year bouncing from conference to conference speaking about videoblogging. Jay is a bee helping spread the pollen of videoblogging all over planet earth. And Jay is just a plain nice dude. You can take him home to your mom, and she'll like him. He'll help clear the table. Then he'll wake up the next day and get a mohawk. No revolution is the work of one person, but it takes certain obsessed, socially adroit, smart people to make change happen this fast, and Jay is one of those people . Congrats to Jay Dedman, Person Who Rocks #2.
