Feeling Better

So the reason I stayed up all night last Thursday was to edit together video creations by Bronx teens for a screening. I hate being sleep deprived, but it was worth it. We did two screenings yesterday. All the videos had something cool about them, and some were phenomenal. There were some great horror shorts, documentaries, dance videos, and on and on. Most of the students came, and lots of friends and family showed up too. It's a testament to the kids and their mentors that they developed such entertaining and thought provoking work.

This last two months turned into more of a video production workshop than a videoblogging one, for various technical and bureaucratic reasons, but it looks like we've got them resolved, so when the next session starts up, we'll be putting stuff online. I'll keep y'all posted as that develops.

I'm excited about using the vlog medium to help teach the program. I'm recognizing I'm going to have to pour most of my creative energy into making this session work the way I want. That's OK. I'll still do the cable access show and do the odd Creamsicles gig, but most of my focus has to be on making this program rock. The screening yesterday confirmed to me that this is worth it.

Too Much Work

Uck. I'm sick of working so much. I like most aspects of my job, but right now at 5AM as I edit video with no prospect of sleep on the horizon, I'm not so happy.

Mikey Sklar in the Times

My boy Mikey Sklar got written up in the New York Times regarding his RFID implant adventure. Great to see Mikey get the attention he deserves. Just remember, you saw him here first.
