I’ve been absorbing bucketloads of online media lately. Here are the sites that have been sucking my attention over the last few weeks:
Videoblogs:
Bottom Union instigated the wildly successful Carp Caviar project. See videos from vloggers around the world about the unexpectedly diverse appeal of this fishy treat.
kitykity.com
A unix administrator in Texas with an amazing karaoke voice.
Randy is an experienced media hacker from way back. Now he’s making his own media, and it’s great. He is a savvy interviewer, and has an eye for interesting subjects including street fairs, the immortalist movement, and gay culture.
Lynn Lane is a documentary film maker who is putting clips of up and coming hip hop artists rapping on the streets of their NYC neighborhoods in his “Hood Hopping With Jay Gutta” series.
JD Lasica, journalist, author, and social entrepreneur has a fantastic set of interviews up of people like Tony Kahn (WGBH Boston), Jennifer Myrunuk (Storyfield), and Brewster Kahle. This is a great place to learn about the current revolution in media.
Audio Podcasts:
Tons of podcasts from geeky tech/culture/media conferences featuring the likes of Steve Wozniak, Clay Shirky, Ray Kurzweil, and Stewart Copeland.
Always a fun listen for your hardcore media junkie.
