So the reason I stayed up all night last Thursday was to edit together video creations by Bronx teens for a screening. I hate being sleep deprived, but it was worth it. We did two screenings yesterday. All the videos had something cool about them, and some were phenomenal. There were some great horror shorts, documentaries, dance videos, and on and on. Most of the students came, and lots of friends and family showed up too. It’s a testament to the kids and their mentors that they developed such entertaining and thought provoking work.
This last two months turned into more of a video production workshop than a videoblogging one, for various technical and bureaucratic reasons, but it looks like we’ve got them resolved, so when the next session starts up, we’ll be putting stuff online. I’ll keep y’all posted as that develops.
I’m excited about using the vlog medium to help teach the program. I’m recognizing I’m going to have to pour most of my creative energy into making this session work the way I want. That’s OK. I’ll still do the cable access show and do the odd Creamsicles gig, but most of my focus has to be on making this program rock. The screening yesterday confirmed to me that this is worth it.

This comment has been long overdue. From the screening, I can tell that the kids took a lot of pride in and really enjoyed creating their work. And, the videos were great to boot!
Kudos!

Yes, I should read this more often! Good news about the press query. I clicked on red letters.
