I was just standing on the subway platform and I saw a woman in a black tank top. Protruding from the back of her shirt, about six inches below her collar, were a pair of dragon fly sized wings.

I used to catch dragonflies at nearby rice fields. During the summer dry months when the mud was dried up you can run all over the place. You can catch different types, smaller colorful types and big ones with tails the size of your pinky. When I went to art school, I hung a around a tatoo artist with a huge dragonfly tatooed on her back. The tail covered half her spine and the rest her upper back. Fifteen years later she’s weighed down by all these metal piercings- bizarre. So each time I see dragonflies, I think dry rice paddies and tattoos.
