I get high with a little help from my friends

Jonny and Evan

Just like I get high on clean living, life, and America. My friend Evan here, looking suspiciously like a mutant kitten I saw pickled in a jar in Paris museum when I was an impressionable young child. Made with the help of my new favorite application, Apple's Photo Booth.

Cycloptically yours via photobucket.com

I have been hearing people mention Photo Bucket recently, so I decided to join up and try posting a photo with it. Apparently very popular with MySpace users. I'm keeping my one eye on it.

I shelled out some hard cash to read John Battelle's book on the internet search industry. I captured this moment with my MacBook Pro's webcam, and distorted it in Photo Booth, a free application that came with my laptop. I'm not the only one having fun w/this program. Here's the flickr tag photobooth. And now back to me. Don't I look kind of like Tricky Dick?

This Iranian American Life

My colleague Paris Marashi is producing an incredible videoblog from Iran this summer. Paris was an intern in the BX21 program I worked on and she also helped me with some work I did for iVillage. In her vlog This Iranian American Life, Paris shows amazing clips of daily life in Iran, of buying a poem in the street, bringing food to construction workers so they will pray for her deceased grandfather, hanging out with teens in a cafe.

Watch the Video

I couldn't resist the extreme closeup when I tested the webcam of my new MacBook Pro. The nostril averse should not watch this.

I'm going to be teaching videoblogging/podcasting at Phovi.com

I loved teaching videoblogging to teens in the Bronx this last year, but since my wife is in school in DC, I need to move down there, so I can't continue working with them. That makes me a little sad, because those students are amazing. The good news is I'm going to keep teaching videoblogging while working for Phovi.com. Phovi.com stands for Photo/Video Community. We'll be teaching photo and video classes over the internet using live audio and video conferencing. We're just revamping the Phovi site now to upgrade our capabilities there, but that should be ironed out soon. I'm really stoked that I can keep doing what I love, teaching folks how to get their voice out there through the medium of videoblogging. Yeah!
