There is a game going around the blogosphere where people mention 5 things about themselves that most other folks don’t know, and then they select 5 other bloggers they’d like to know more about. Andy Carvin tagged me awhile back, so here are my 5 things.
1. Jesus was my first superhero. I’m Jewish but I went to a Church of England school in the UK for first grade. My teacher used to read us bible stories and Jesus captured my imagination what with all his walking on water and whatnot. I used to fantasize about being a superhero like Jesus. Then I discovered Spiderman and other more contemporary superheroes, but Jesus was my first.
2. I was a whitewater raft guide on one of the craziest stretches of river in the United States—The Upper Gauley (note: the link goes to a photo that is not of me, but it’s the right river) .
3. I lived in Papua New Guinea in tenth grade and was threated by a spear wielding man garbed in leaves because I did not want to pay him 5 times the going rate to take my picture with him. I stuck to my guns and somehow was not impaled.
4. I used to volunteer to answer the phones at a suicide hotline. Did this in Seattle in the 90’s. In one crazy call, I had to keep a girl on the line who had overdosed on pills until her line could be traced and EMS could break down her door to take her to a hospital.
5. I can stand on my head while playing harmonica. I’m not making this up.
And now let’s hear 5 little known autobiographical facts from these people (and if you have already been tagged, give us 5 more things please) Gena Haskett, Glenn Fleishman, Lia Bulaong, Uffish Thoughts, and Misery Chick.

Ooh, fun!
I promise I’ll do this, but I can’t till Thursday — tomorrow’s our anniversary show for WYSIWYG, I’m reading at it, and I haven’t finished writing my piece yet.
In the meantime, though — evidence that Jonny can indeed stand on his head while playing a musical instrument, right here! Okay, so it’s cymbals and not a harmonica, but it still cracks me up.
