Chris Parandian and Ashley Shillingsburg interviewed Steve Largent, former NFL star and current president of the CTIA, “An international nonprofit membership organization founded in 1984, representing all sectors of wireless communications – cellular, personal communication services and enhanced specialized mobile radio.” They posted the interview on their blog, mobilediner.com. No, the blog is not about eating while driving! The name supposed to evoke the kind of space that a diner represents. A place open to all, where people from all walks of life intersect. Everyone with a cell phone has an interest in wireless communications these days, and Mobile Diner wants to be a space where people can come together to talk about what’s on the menu.
Chris tells me that they hope to interview Steve again one of these days, in addition to capturing other industry guests on video. If you have any interest in the future of the wireless communications industry, send Chris and Ashley your questions, and they just might use them in their future interviews. The best way to do it is to watch the video with Steve and leave them a comment here.
What do you want from your wireless carrier? I wonder what people who are really steeped in this stuff would ask, like this guy?.
Mobile Diner is an interesting experiment. Chris and Ashley have day jobs working for a government relations firm firm representing the interests wireless industry in DC. Mobile Diner is their own labor of love, done on their own time. I met them through DC Media Makers, a group of people interested in making their own media that meets monthly here in the nation’s capital.

Thanks Jonny. Ashley and I believe that in order for the wireless industry to reach the next level, it must engage in conversations with its customers. By listening first and talking second, we believe the industry can deliver more services that consumers demand. Ultimately, developing trust and loyalty, which does not necessarily exist today. We can do better and we look forward to the conversation ahead… See you at the diner.
