Tony Snow: Got a Question For You

July 3rd, 2007 · 4 Comments

A Letter To Tony Snow, White House Spokesperson:

Dear Tony,

As I drove to my ritual Star Trek viewing gathering yesterday evening (Yeah, I’m kind of a dork. I admit that.) I listened to you on the radio as you attempted to explain Bush’s commution of Libby’s prison sentence. I was just waiting for a reporter to ask you: “On a scale of 1 to 10, how ashamed are you to work for this president? 1 would be, ‘Shame Free’ and 10 would be ‘Basted in a thick coating of shame syrup.” But nobody asked that question.

Tony, just in case you read this blog, can you let me know? 1? 10? Or somewhere in between? Thanks!

Sincerely,

Jonny Goldstein

I herd a lady on the radio today say. We want those who scare us to go to jail, not those who anger us.

Which makes sense. And every president has pardoned the guilt.

Then there are kids who are in jail serving ridiculously long sentences from selling acid to a cop or something stupid like that.

Its just futile arguing politics. Neither side is truly going to make a change.

    Hey Aaron,

I think that change actually can happen, and that we can effect change. Change doesn’t just happen. People make it happen.

I don’t have any illusions that one political party or the other is the solution, but whoever is in there, I think it makes sense to hold them accountable, at a minimum in the court of public opinion.

Jonny, Some people use commution but the more accepted phrase is “commutation of sentence,” On your sentiments, I agree 95%. The other 5%? At least, in addition to the fine, Libby does still have a felony besmirching his record.

hey, a commutation means that there is still a court case against him wich means that he cannot testify in congress without providing witness against himself. clever that bushit.
