John Leeke: Lession: Always have $3000-5000 on hand for a
lawyer.
jonnygoldstein7: good advice john leeke
John Leeke: Lession: Know how to behave during an altercation

FluxRostrum: well played Gerry
John Leeke: Lesson: Establish a relationship with a lawyer now, so
you have one “on line” when you need one.
billcammack: true
John Leeke: Lesson: Everyone send a donation to ACLU.
FluxRostrum: I don’t think it a free speech issue. .. it’s assault.

hey gerry… way to beat the system brother. i’ve been in similar situations with holier than thou officers and responded in the same way.
unfortunately for me, it always backfires. things worked out well for you in the end. but i have a couple of questions…
what would the outcome have been had you consented to a search of your car, of your tapes? from your story, it seems like sharing your tapes may have exonerated you?
is the damaged pride really worth the loot and time spent ‘downtown’ and at the court house?
also, any racial undertones to the incident?
i regularly approach random people in the street for my job in main stream media and more often than not, am rebuffed in my attempts to get people on tape. having a logo on my mic must help lend legitimacy to my efforts, but i wonder what kind of success you have approaching people? one in two? one is ten? one in fifty?

I just wanted to Thank you Jonny for the opportunity of being a guest on The Par-Tay with Jonny Goldstein last night.
I really had such a great time from the moment I walked into your studio to the moment before I went home.
I’m quite confident that your show will be a “live” success! Have a safe and wonderful trip to New York City and I’ll talk to you soon.
Your Friend,
Gerry T
