Phil Campbell, Jan McLaughlin, a bunch of other folks, and I had a wide ranging discussion of what we would like to see from live streaming video providers. We particularly focused on Operator 11, which we see as the best option out there at the moment. If you are interested in live streaming video, you can hear our conversation here.

I’ve followed the whole videoblog scene and think it is hopelessly misdirected. Recall the Ham radio craze of the 70s? It’s the same basic concept. The only people that really participate or see it are the same small group. How do you translate your material to a larger audience? Youtube? Perhaps I’m the one misdirected? Perhaps a large audience is not the point? I think not, just look at what Dedman and his sleeper cell got for their efforts with the sale of their bloggosphere.

Hi Osama,
I mistitled the piece, I mean “…live streaming video services.”
Did you watch the video discussion I linked to?
Take a look.
As for the whole ham radio/small audience thing, different strokes for different folks.
Everyone’s got their own goals and methods as far as desired audience composition and size and how to achieve those goals.
Some people have gotten big audiences with YouTube, some without. It’s a big crazy complex media eco system…
