Jim Long is an old media pro (a veteran NBC News cameraman) turned new media entrepreneur and social media star with his behind the scenes commentary on Twitter, the popular microblogging service. He was recently included on in a “DC Area’s Top 12 Social Media, Marketing, and PR blogs” list. I can’t wait to ask Jim about the changes he is seeing in media and where he thinks things are going next. Jim will be a featured speaker at the DC Social Media Club the following Thursday, so if you can’t make that event, be sure to check out his appearance on the Par-tay.
The service can be described as a video based Twitter, although it is also much more than that. The grand vision behind Seesmic is for it to become a very open online video/television service where people are constantly interacting around both user generated and professional content.
Seesmic already has an enthusiastic posse of alpha testers and a 5,000 person waiting list for people who want to start using the service. One of the fun things about Seesmic is the way that Le Meur and his team are creating frequent videos about how their startup experience is going.
Whether you are interested in technology, social media, innovative marketing, or fabulous French accents, you will enjoy rubbing elbows with Loic and Jim at this week’s Par-tay. Look forward to seeing you there!
