Boatman Media Productions is a rapidly growing, full-service film and video production company specializing in Online fashion video promotion and commercial broadcast projects. Clients include the producers of NYC’s Fashion Week, Mercedes-Benz, L’Oreal and many others. Recently, Boatman
Media Productions has moved into feature-length documentary with a soon to be released story on American fashion designer Ralph Rucci. Boatman Media Productions has a challenge common to all successful businesses—how to manage growth. This a business map I created during a session with David (pictured right). A business map is a diagram which reflects themcontents of a discussion I lead with clients about the current realities,
challenges, and successes of their business operations. The business map grows as the conversation progresses. By the end of the session, clients
have a clear overview of the current state of their business, a list of goals and often they have insights about what next steps need to be taken.

Here is the map on its own:

And here is a map I did with Peter Murdock (that’s him in the photo), a highly successful NYC based fashion and interior photographer. He too finds himself in a position where he needs to manage success as his business grows.

Great post. At Courage Group we use Mind Manager for mapping. It supports both English and Japanese which is essential for us. Which mapping platform are you using here?

I have used Mind Manager, and ConceptDraw. Currently I use a web based service called MindMeister. When I do these sessions with clients I do them by hand using markers and paper. I find it much faster and effective to do them by hand in this context.

We also do by hand for with clients (easier to interact) then archive into Mind Manager for them. Maps are a fabulous way to communicate with clients for everything from meeting agendas to a plan especially when you are working with right brained visionary people.
