I love getting people on the Par-tay who know more than I do. This week I have two guests with rock solid expertise in something that we can all use help with: selling effectively. And we all need to learn to do that, whether we are selling our ideas or our products. Jeremy Epstein is going to talk about building his social media consulting practice by developing it in public, something he calls “The Perpetual Beta” of his story. He realizes that if he is going to help people use social media to meet their business goals, he needs to use the kind feedback social media allows to continually improve his own sales processes. He uses a combination of his personal blog and his professional blog to test ideas and solicit feedback as he constantly works on sharpening his ability to serve his clients. And even though it’s not always easy to learn in public, it’s working. His clients include Johnson & Johnson, Arete Wealth Management, and bestselling author Dan Pink, who just released his manga career guide The Adventures of Johnny Bunko. We will learn how his process works and what he has learned along the way.
Jason Schwartz brings rich life experience (including having owned and run a coffee shop in Jerusalem) and academic expertise (organizational change management) to the sales process. He has spent years learning how to honor and value relationships. Jason just started getting interested in social media recently so he brings fresh eyes to the whole online scene. He believes that the “4 Pillars of Trust” that help people build profound and productive relationships offline work in building equally powerful relationships online. Those pillars are: 1) Follow through 2) Set reasonable expectations 3) Be an expert 4) Act with integrity.
I hope you are as excited about this episode as I am. Join us as we work on the perpetual beta of our story together.
