OK, I don’t have any kids. But sometime today I found myself imagining I did. And I saw that hypothetical 15 year old coming home from school after having studied the dark years when the federal government tortured prisoners, illegally spied en masse on its own citizens, and fabricated evidence to start an unnecessary war. I see that kid asking me what I did during those years.

Well, I pretty much lived my life. I went to a protest or two. I wrote a couple of emails to congress members. I whined a little, in private. That’s it. And that’s not enough.
