Hi there! I am Jonny Goldstein, an art and design educator based Queens, NYC. I was born way over on the other side of the country in Eugene, Oregon. After exploring creativity via studying literature in English, Spanish, and Hebrew, I moved to New York City to study visual art. In addition to traditional visual art classes, I explored interactive media while earning a Masters Degree at NYU.

I have a passion for helping young people build their creative abilities. This passion is bolstered by real world design and art experience. As a commercial artist I worked with clients such as Ben & Jerry’s, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and the United Nations. My illustrations are featured at discoverymagazine.com, fastcompany.com, businessinsider.com and many other web and print publications.

I think artists can help shape reality. This is a banner I designed for a youth climate March where young people were trying to shape their future. I think it is important to help young people understand their power through art.

In addition to teaching 3rd-12th grade students art in out-of-school settings, I have taught visual problem solving to undergraduate and graduate design students at University of the Arts and New York University. I speak Spanish (bastante bien si lo digo yo mismo) which comes in handy when working with students who have recently arrived from Latin America.

While I love drawing, I also enjoy ceramics, digital art, digital and traditional photography, digital video, painting, comics, graphic design, printmaking, collage, animation, and sculpture.

I live in Jackson Heights, Queens, with my partner, my daughter, and a fridge full of chocolate.
